遠藤ミチロウが自身最後のバンドとして2015年に結成した"THE END"。ミュージシャンとしての集大成とも言える濃密で重厚な音楽性を擁し、病魔と闘いながら精力的にライブツアーを行うも、作品としてはThe Doors のカバーアルバム1枚を遺すのみで活動を終えるという、皮肉にもその名の通りとなってしまった不遇のバンド。その軌跡を今に伝えるべく編集されたライブ音源集が、本作『5』。
アルバムタイトルはミチロウが遺した手書きの次作構想メモより。2015年～2017年のAPIA40でのライブから選曲。初音源化となるTHE END のために書き下ろされた新曲2曲を含む全10曲。ミチロウが人生の終わりを見据えながら思い描いた未完のサイケデリック・ロック、その記録。

THE END was formed by Michiro Endo(ex-The Stalin) in 2015 as his last band. The band, which can be described as the culmination of his career as a musician, has a dense and profound musicality, and although they have toured live energetically while battling illness, they have ironically ended their career with only one album of covers of The Doors as their last work, as their name implies. This album, 5, is a collection of live recordings compiled to convey the band's trajectory to the present day. The title of the album is taken from a handwritten memo Michiro left behind, which was used to plan the band's next album. Ten songs in total, including two new songs written for THE END, which are being recorded for the first time. A record of the unfinished psychedelic rock that Michirou envisioned as he looked towards the end of his life.
