During that tour, DIRECT THREAT's River was inspired by a few songs he had written several years earlier, leading to the launch of the project band 'GARE DU NORD,' with INSTRUCTOR's vocalist Dario approaching it in French. They are inspired by the spirit and sound of iconic 1980s French Punk/Oi! bands such as Warrior Kids, Swingo Porkies, and the legendary Camera Silens. Through these four songs, GARE DU NORD touches on themes of nerves, anxiety, self-doubt, and the competitive drive to overcome them. It's a story of losing oneself in the city and facing harsh realities.

Their 2016 ‘You'll Get Yours’ LP is a Mendek Diskak favourite, and for a long time I wondered if the band still existed or no longer existed, if they would record new songs again or if they had gone to sleep forever: ...... I had my doubts about the band - they are a band that has been around for a long time, and I have been wondering about them for years. However, I found out around mid-2022 that the rumours that they were recording new songs were true. What a great day that was! About 18 months later, a new record with great sound and artwork was completed. The band has a unique cleverness in weaving together elements of hardcore punk and rock ‘n’ roll, creating a unique type of bovver punk with a great guitar sound and work.
