Band OCHO BOLAS! Since their formation in the late 80s, Ocho Bolas have been an icon of the punk scene in Valparaiso (Chile). The band was formed in 1988 and played their first concert that same year at the Mauri Theatre in Valparaiso, when the punk scene was still a resistance to the Pinochet dictatorship. A year later, in 1989, they recorded their first demo tape ". . al Servicio", which contained eight songs and was released on cassette tape by the band itself (today it is almost impossible to find a copy of that first edition). ... Al Servicio" was the closest thing to the spirit of the first hardcore/punk in that corner of the world, with direct lyrics and a very honest attitude, with no pretensions other than shouting about what they cared about and what was very different from what was going on in Santiago at the same time, both in lyrics and in music. The band's fifth album "To... Dear Comrade" was produced under increasingly tense circumstances, including the introduction of conscription in February 2024, and has managed to evade the authorities. The songs on this album are even more fully developed than the hard-hitting sound of their previous album, One Day. The album contains 10 songs, including a cover of the Burmese version of 'A Las Barricadas', sung during the Spanish Civil War in the 1930s and sung by imprisoned Myanmar folk singer Zin Linn, as well as a cover of German punk band Pestpocken.
